Heath will be a Heavenly Angel for 8 years on November 10, 2012.
We all miss Heath and love him dearly. Heath, you will always be
on our minds and in our hearts!
Our family would like to thank everyone who participates in our annual Memorial events. Whether you donate, attend, or participate in the event you are all keeping Heath's memory alive. This is very important to our family, since this is our only way to honor Heath. If Heath was here, you know he would say to all of you: "Thank You from the bottom of my heart". Thank You again...the Family of our precious Angel Heath!
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Heath Alan Hassler, who was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on April 05, 1986 and passed away on November 10, 2004 at the age of 18. We will remember Heath forever! Heath was "special" to everyone who knew him and loved by all. This site will be in Heath's memory forever! Please feel free to visit anytime, as we will be updating from time to time. Light a candle or more and write a tribute in Heath's honor! The music that you are currently listening to is being played and sang by Heath's brother in law, Shawn Gerhart. He wanted to do this at the funeral service, but it was to emotional. The original song was done by Green Day, who really liked. Heath and Shawn were to attend their concert, which would have been their last concert together...but it never happened. After the services, we realized this was also the senior class song and we all know the fellow peers would have helped Shawn sing the song
We have tried to do as much as possible to keep Heath's memory alive by having annual events... things that Heath loved to do are as follows:
Heath graduated in 2004, from Conrad Weiser Area High School in Robesonia, PA. While at the top of the class, cancer decided to attack Heath. With the support from the school and the webcam, Heath graduated 7th in his class in and was voted to be a speaker at graduation, which you can hear in the audio section. Each year, our family presents a Heath Hassler Memorial Scholarship to a senior in Heath's memory. The recipient's picture is in the photo album and in the timeline. Scholarship donations can be made to: Lebanon Federal Credit Union c/o Heath Hassler Scholarship Fund 300 Schneider Drive Lebanon, Pa 17046
Heath's favorite sport was bowling, which he started at a very young age. Every year we have a Heath Hassler Memorial Bowling Tournament, which is open to males and females, and is a handicapped tournament. The pictures from the event are updated in Heath's photo album and the results are in the timeline. The tournament is always around November 10 and always on Sunday mornings. This is our way of remembering Heath, his love for bowling and keeping Heath's memory alive! Berks Lanes Shillington Road Route 724 Sinking Spring, PA. 19608
Heath also loved racing. Every chance he had to be at the races, Heath went. Sometimes he went to the races 4 times a week. If dad didn't take him, mom would. When he had chemo and had to be very cautious because of germs...you would see Heath at the races with his mask on. Heath loved Bridgeport, so we decided to have an annual event or sponsor awards at Bridgeport, New Jersey. This event is usually held in November, around Heath's memorial date. A great way to honor Heath! Bridgeport Raceway 83 Floodgate Road Bridgeport, New Jersey 08014
In Loving Memory of My Brother
There is no love as that between a brother and sister.
"An Angel in the book of life,
wrote down our baby's birth
and whispered as she closed the book...
too beautiful for earth..."
Gone but never forgotten
Sometimes Love is for a moment. Sometimes Love is for a Lifetime. Sometimes a moment is a Lifetime.
Heath was a #1 Miami Dolphin's fan. Whether they won or lost, Heath always rooted for them.
Go Miami Dolphins.
Heath always loved going to the beach.
Remembering
You
Always
Memories of Heath
It's so hard to believe that you're really gone
and to know that we will no longer
See your smiling face
or hear the sound of your laughter.
You left so many memories which we will never part
You will always live deep inside our hearts.
We are thankful that God graced us
With someone As special As you.
It's just hard to believe
Your life on earth is really through.
Please light a candle or write a tribute. It makes our family feel better to know you were here and remembered Heath!
Thank you for visiting Heath's website. Visit as often as you would like, for we are updating periodically. Please keep Heath in your memories! Also, you can light a candle and write a tribute as often as you would like. God Bless You and thank you! Heath's family

Heath's Legacy
Heath is the perfect role model for anyone to follow. His attitude in life just made his face light up. He was a determined, beautiful young man. He loved school, church, bowling, racing, music, amusement parks, friends and politics. His favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins, of which he met Dan Marino; Colorado Avalanche, Miami Hurricanes, Penn State, of which he met Joe Paterno, Jerry Nadeau, whom he was able to meet, and local driver Steve Bottcher, who also was there to support Heath and just recently dedicated his recent victory at Bridgeport Raceway to Heath.
Heath was idolized by his fellow peers and the community. His nothing but positive attitude towards beating his illness separated him from the “norm”. His quote “I Will Beat This” will live on forever in many people’s minds. He fought for his beliefs and was determined to vote in the November 2004 election, of which he accomplished by just a few days. His school work was always a priority in his life. He was the first student in Berks County to tutor from home via the web camera. This allowed him to be live in his classes with his peers from home. He maintained a straight “A” report card even through his difficult journey. He enjoyed helping other peers. We received a letter from an Albright classmate that read how she was lost at the beginning of college and how others would not help her but how Heath did, and how she didn’t even really know him until that point. This was not uncommon. We received so many letters reading almost the same thing from people whom had similar experiences of how he was able to help them in some way. What a fine young man he was.
His passion and desire in life is being shown in many ways, we only hope he is able to see how much people miss him, respect him and honor him by the things they do to keep his legacy alive. The family gives a generous scholarship every year to a student who has overcome a hardship, the 2004 senior class gives a scholarship in his honor, the Conrad Weiser High School gives an annual award named “The Heath Hassler, Most Courageous Athlete”, there is an annual bowling tournament held at Colonial Berks Lanes each November, a memorial race at Bridgeport Raceway each November, a memorial tree was planted at his high school of which we make many visits to as well as we notice others do as well by the trinkets left behind (thank you to those who do), a memorial tree is being planted at an elementary school and at a park in Lebanon PA, he was featured many times in the Reading Eagle newspaper, bells have been purchased in his name at Trinity Lutheran Church, fellow peers used Heath to write essays about in college and won awards, Berks Career & Technology Center held a fashion show in his honor, events were held by different clubs at high school where the funds were given to a charity in his name, on his birthday many past teachers and friends phoned the family to remember him. The list is endless and unfortunately some have been missed, but to everyone who keeps his spirit alive, a thank you does not begin to cover the gratitude that our family has for you.
Now, please enjoy our tribute to Heath. Come and visit this site often and light a candle or write a tribute, Heath's legacy will live on forever!
